Foo Fighters really know how to rock and they showed it in Prague

In this summer was city of Prague honored by the visit one of the biggest rock bands of the present times. FOO FIGHTERS came here to play live the songs from the latest album Wasting lights as well as older songs. Immediately after they announced, they will play in Czech Republic, I knew I have to be part of this show. FOO FIGHTERS are just quality guarantee and I knew I can expect great concert by the great musicians. The greatness of this band demonstrate the perfect sound of their album Wasting lights, recorded in David Grohl´s garage without any special effects of modern recording studios. This kind of recording presumes only a band of stature. So you can imagine how pleased I was about having a chance to see the live gig of this amazing band.

But now let’s have a look how does it looked like in O2 Arena in Prague on 15.08. 2012. To be honest I was so excited about going to this concert that the train to Prague I took had 3 hour delay, so I missed most of the supporting act show. Bob Mould who cooperate on the album Wasting lights together with the band and sing one of the song from the album, performed as supporting act. I saw just last three songs, so I not going to write about this gig and I rather move to headliners of the evening :) The band came on the stage shortly after the ninth and started the show with song White limo followed by All my life. In the moment of entering the stage by the band the audience got totally crazy and wild! Everybody started to jump and sing. As I mentioned above, the band didn´t use any special effects on the album, the same was when playing live. So no wide screen, no laser lights, no light effects, so the main power of the whole show was pure pleasure from music. On the one hand it was good, but on the other hand I with my 164 cm could see totally anything....even the fact that I came later made me impossible to see the stage. So I missed the wide screen so much and I think all the people standing in the back. No wonder I had muscle fever from jumping all the time to see at least a bit from the band members. I wasn´t the only one who jumped all the time but all the FF fans around me mostly male gender tread on air and tried to sing along......or maybe not to sing along but shout would be a better word for what they were doing.

The fans really enjoyed the show and the show carried on with songs like Rope, Arlandia, Walk alternate by older hits like Learn to fly and Pretender. If you know these songs you surely know that all this songs are quite energetic, so the crowd even had the time to breathe again from constant jumping and singing. The only time we could rest for a while was, when Dave started to speak to the audience. I really do love when Dave was talking because he is such a funny guy and he made the atmosphere even better. I liked when he apologized for not playing in Prague for long time. The last gig they play in Prague was in 1995.... so long time ago. He said they had just few songs and played in the small club Brumlovka  :) But don´t worry Dave all the fans have forgiven you already because the show you have made simply compensated this long waiting to see you live in Prague.

Guys on the stage had so much energy and vigour and especially Dave who made miracles with his voice and guitar. When playing the song My Hero he walk to both side of stage and got closer to audience, what made people standing close to stage wild and because My Hero is one of the best-known FF song Dave let the fans to sing some part of the song. Inter alia we could hear songs like Bridge burning, Times like these, The Flesh from Pink Floyd, Dear Rosemary had sang together with Mould. The best part came when they started to play Best of you. I was looking forward to hear this song live, but honestly I didn´t expect it would be that great. I think it was even better then great. This song was so powerful I had shiver all over my body!
After two and half hours the show ended with the song Everlong. So you can imagine how  great performance Dave & co. delivered... avarage gigs last two hours or less...FOO FIGHTERS managed to play in full deployment even half hour more. Good job guys....but next time with wide screen please :)
