Foo Fighters really know how to rock and they showed it in Prague

In this summer was city of Prague honored by the visit one of the biggest rock bands of the present times. FOO FIGHTERS came here to play live the songs from the latest album Wasting lights as well as older songs. Immediately after they announced, they will play in Czech Republic, I knew I have to be part of this show. FOO FIGHTERS are just quality guarantee and I knew I can expect great concert by the great musicians. The greatness of this band demonstrate the perfect sound of their album Wasting lights, recorded in David Grohl´s garage without any special effects of modern recording studios. This kind of recording presumes only a band of stature. So you can imagine how pleased I was about having a chance to see the live gig of this amazing band.

But now let’s have a look how does it looked like in O2 Arena in Prague on 15.08. 2012. To be honest I was so excited about going to this concert that the train to Prague I took had 3 hour delay, so I missed most of the supporting act show. Bob Mould who cooperate on the album Wasting lights together with the band and sing one of the song from the album, performed as supporting act. I saw just last three songs, so I not going to write about this gig and I rather move to headliners of the evening :) The band came on the stage shortly after the ninth and started the show with song White limo followed by All my life. In the moment of entering the stage by the band the audience got totally crazy and wild! Everybody started to jump and sing. As I mentioned above, the band didn´t use any special effects on the album, the same was when playing live. So no wide screen, no laser lights, no light effects, so the main power of the whole show was pure pleasure from music. On the one hand it was good, but on the other hand I with my 164 cm could see totally anything....even the fact that I came later made me impossible to see the stage. So I missed the wide screen so much and I think all the people standing in the back. No wonder I had muscle fever from jumping all the time to see at least a bit from the band members. I wasn´t the only one who jumped all the time but all the FF fans around me mostly male gender tread on air and tried to sing along......or maybe not to sing along but shout would be a better word for what they were doing.

The fans really enjoyed the show and the show carried on with songs like Rope, Arlandia, Walk alternate by older hits like Learn to fly and Pretender. If you know these songs you surely know that all this songs are quite energetic, so the crowd even had the time to breathe again from constant jumping and singing. The only time we could rest for a while was, when Dave started to speak to the audience. I really do love when Dave was talking because he is such a funny guy and he made the atmosphere even better. I liked when he apologized for not playing in Prague for long time. The last gig they play in Prague was in 1995.... so long time ago. He said they had just few songs and played in the small club Brumlovka  :) But don´t worry Dave all the fans have forgiven you already because the show you have made simply compensated this long waiting to see you live in Prague.

Guys on the stage had so much energy and vigour and especially Dave who made miracles with his voice and guitar. When playing the song My Hero he walk to both side of stage and got closer to audience, what made people standing close to stage wild and because My Hero is one of the best-known FF song Dave let the fans to sing some part of the song. Inter alia we could hear songs like Bridge burning, Times like these, The Flesh from Pink Floyd, Dear Rosemary had sang together with Mould. The best part came when they started to play Best of you. I was looking forward to hear this song live, but honestly I didn´t expect it would be that great. I think it was even better then great. This song was so powerful I had shiver all over my body!
After two and half hours the show ended with the song Everlong. So you can imagine how  great performance Dave & co. delivered... avarage gigs last two hours or less...FOO FIGHTERS managed to play in full deployment even half hour more. Good job guys....but next time with wide screen please :)

Sold out Snow Patrol open-air gig in Vienna.

It was lovely sunny day and since the morning I was in good mood. It wasn´t because of nice weather but because of SNOW PATROL concert in Vienna held that day. It wasn´t my first SNOW PATROL gig, I saw them live as supporting act on U2 concert in Poland, so I knew what kind of show I can expect. I really do like their songs, but after listening this songs live I just started to love it. So no wonder I decided to buy a ticket immediately I found out they will play in Vienna. I can tell you ....it was a right decision :)

The concert took place in Arena Wien on 26.6.2012, it was an open air show what I totally appreciate whereas it was a hot day. I have to tell you it was my first concert in this location, which is famous for alternative performances of all kinds. I was nicely surprised after I entered inside, because this place was just perfect for live shows. The stage was big enough with wide screens and the best thing was the place for standing which was kind of stair-step, so even the delayed fans could enjoy the show without the fear of seeing anything :) For the supporting act SNOW PATROL members chose a band called PARLOTONES. It was really nice to listen to this band, which songs were ok, but I saw that I was not the only one who was much more interested in the headliners of the evening. A bunch of people during the PARLOTONES performance were standing in front of the stage and the rest were just hanging around, talking and drinking beer...a lot of beer :) I thought until the headliners will come the ground will be completely covered with plastic beer jugs. Fortunately there were a lot of waist bins, so not all of the jugs ended up on the ground  :)

A few minutes after eight the fans finally lived to see frontmen Gary & co. Even it was late the sun was still shining so it was good to see completely sold out Arena Wien. The band started with very energetic song Hands open, which really pumped up the crowd, me included. The crowd started to sing along and I knew this was a good beginning. Next song following was Take back the city and Crack the Shutters, which were very well played by the band and get the audience in the right mood. After these three songs the guys switched to ballads so the crowd could rest and enjoy the songs like Run, This Isn´t everything you are, New York or Set the fire in the third bar. What I indeed like about the gig was Gary´s funny comments and work with the audience. I think he and the band enjoyed the show together with the fans. After first tones of songs Shut your eyes and Chasing cars, Gary didn´t have to ask to sing along.....the audience knew exactly what to do and everybody sang along. The atmosphere grew even more after songs like Called out in the dark, Fallen empires and Open your eyes, which is my personal favorite song:) Before they started to play song Lifening, Gary ask the audience to sing the chorus along and explained us that this song is about all the importing things in life and is kind special for him, what we could see when he perform the song with a reall passion. The last song we could hear was Just say yes and with this song SNOW PATROL said good-bye to Vienna fans.

In my opinion it was great gig, greater band and super Austrian audience. The fans left the place happy with smile on their faces and in good mood....so Thank You SNOW PATROL for such a great evening!

Cranberries long-awaited concert in Bratislava postponed

If you are a bit interested into music for sure you have noticed that well-known Irish band Cranberries supposed to play live concert in Bratislava this month. Everywhere around the town you can find billboard advertising the concert to be held on 24.06.2012.But the truth is that we have to wait by the autumn to see this band live. Slovakia is not the only country, where the concert was postponed. Cranberries namely postponed entire European tour. The reasons why they delayed this long prepared tour are Dolores O´ Riordan urgent personal reasons, she didn´t want to define further. On the official Cranberries website she published the statement to delayed tour and canceled festival appearances:  “For personal reasons I would prefer to keep private, it turns out that this is not a good time for me to be on the road this Summer. I apologize to the fans and promise that the Cranberries will be at our best for the rescheduled shows.” Who knows what exactly happened? We can just hope everything will be fine and I keep fingers crossed for Dolores to manage her private life troubles. The fans who already have bought the ticket for the show don´t have to be sad because they can use this ticket on 13. October – this is the new date for Bratislava gig. And this is not the only change concern this concert. The place where we can enjoy this band live will not be Ice –Stadium of Ondrej Nepela but the concert will take place in Incheba Arena. So everyone who has got ticket don´t forget not to make any other plans or appointments  for this date or perhaps even ask for day off if you got the nightshift on 13 of October J Hope to see you there J

BILLY TALENT in Bratislava (Slovakia)

Well.... to be honest I was very pleasantly surprised by the news that Canadian punk-rock band BILLY TALENT will play concert in our capital. Two days ago it really happened and I had the opportunity to be in the crowd full of the fans who took a part in this event. The concert was held in Majestic Music Club in Bratislava, which is famous for music shows of miscellaneous genres and I´m glad to say we have such a music club in Bratislava but I think BILLY TALENT deserved bigger stage as well as the fans more space for jumping around. Even though I tried to endure under the stage until the headliners come after the first support act I had to move aside because there was lack of fresh air and I was sweating like a horse....maybe I just getting older and can´t stand overcrowded places or there was really close quarters for so many people....but anyway I´m thankful to Majestic Music club and all of the organizers of this event for bringing this band to Slovakia. The next best thing, which the organizers manage well, was the choice of supporting acts - Slovak bands Zoči-Voči and Horkyže sliže got the audience in the right mood and the highlight of the evening could come.
The coming of the band was accompanied by screaming and big applause of the fans....some of them were even so excited, that they started to jump up with glasses full of beer....so the floor was fully covered with sticky beer and not just the floor but some "lucky ones" as well. I belonged to the "lucky ones" so I bristled up a bit, but that is what the rock concert are about - it has to be loud and dirty and when Ben & Co. started to play I immediately forgot that I smell like a beer keg. In the moment the band entered the stage it was absolutely sure they are just great musicians and entertainer.
Ben´s cooperation with the audience was excellent and the crowd appreciates it with singing along with the band. Billy Talent showed that they really got the talent and they are enjoying presenting their talent. The band gave great performance. The show lasted 80 minutes and included the biggest BILLY TALENT hits as Surrender, Fallen Leaves, Rusted from the Rain and Red Flag.
Also I would like to mention some comments of leadsinger, who did not forget to mention the hockey match Canada vs. Slovakia and started to name some Slovak hockey players and he told us that this year Olympic Games they will be the winners, what provocated the audience to make some noise. It seemed like band take care of the fans when Ben asked the fans to be nice to each other and to help each other during concert, he even splash the water around to refresh the crowd. Another important news for the fans was that the new album is coming in autumn and they will come to Slovakia again to promote it. So I just hope they will keep this promise and looking forward to seeing BILLY TALENT again live. I really enjoyed the concert and next day I had muscle fever, lost my voice and had some bruises ....all this is the evidence of great rock concert. So can´t wait to see you live again BILLY TALENT!!!
